Scientific Glassblower

Summary

High purity chemical manufacturing company seeking qualified Scientific Glassblower for high volume production environment.  Skilled technical work at the journeyman level in the fabrication and repair of quartz apparatus.

Qualifications

Graduation from a standard high school or vocational school, supplemented by formal training in glassblowing; and considerable experience in glassblowing, including 5 years minimum experience in the construction of scientific apparatus; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Duties and Responsibilities

Self starter as position is responsible for all aspects of glass shop operation from planning to hands on fabrication to ensure production quotas are meet.

• Orders equipment and materials for glassblowing shop; maintains cost accounts.
• Maintain safe working environment based on hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
• Monitors and maintains quality standards.
• Work from written instructions, rough sketches, and blue prints.
• Diagnose problems and make constructive recommendations.
• Work with management to implement and improve production systems.
• Requires minimum of 6 hours per day of hands on fabrication.
