Peak Sun in the Oregonian
Monday, December 8, 2008 at 3:38PM Many talk about creating green collar jobs these days. But Oregon is really doing it. Just this week we hear that Vestas Wind Systems, the world's largest maker of wind turbines, will expand its North American headquarters in Portland by increasing its 350-person work force to at least 1,200 people. That's 850 new good-paying, permanent jobs from just this one company.
Other companies like Peak Sun Silicon, Solar World, Sanyo Solar, Solaicx, XSunX and Horizon Wind are setting up shop in Oregon. Then there are the energy efficiency consultants that are based in Oregon, like Ecos Consulting, Portland Energy Conservation, Inc. and the Cadmus Group. They each have hundreds of permanent employees.
